MS-CWP55 (G) Cross-Laid Spunlace Nonwoven

55% wood pulp / 45% polyester · cross-laid · medical hand-towel substrate

A grade built around cross-laid construction, aimed at products such as hand towels that need balanced strength and wide-web stability. Crossing fibres are hydroentangled so MD and CD strength are closer and tear resistance improves, and the web resists distortion through high-speed slitting and downstream converting; at a maximum width of 3,200 mm it suits wide slitting and volume production. The 50-110 gsm range covers products across different thickness positions.

Applications

Medical hand-towel substrateHand towel and hand-wipe material for healthcare settings: good absorbency, resists tearing when wet, and does not lint.
Hygiene wiping productsSubstrate for wiping products that need balanced strength and absorbency.
Wide-format converted productsProducts needing large-format material to reduce seams and raise slitting throughput.
Industrial wipesWipe products requiring MD/CD strength and tear resistance.
Lamination baseAs a base for lamination, combined with other materials for specific uses.
Disposable hygiene productsSubstrate for disposables that must combine absorbency with strength.

Construction & Manufacturing

MS-CWP55 (G) uses cross-laid construction: fibres are laid at crossing angles during web formation, then bonded by multiple rows of high-pressure water jets.

The key difference with cross-laid

Balanced MD and CD strength. Straight-laid material is strong in the machine direction but weaker across it; cross-laid spreads fibre orientation, so MD and CD strength are closer and the material is less likely to tear along one direction in use.

What that means in practice

Wide, stable webs convert without lateral distortion, and the more even strength profile makes it easier to slit large formats without an obvious weak direction. This is why cross-laid is the standard choice for wide-format hygiene and hand-towel products.

The material is hydroentangled with no chemical binder; pulp provides absorbency and polyester provides strength, giving usable performance both dry and wet. The 50-110 gsm range can be matched to product thickness and strength, and the wide-web capability allows efficient slitting to finished size with less trim.

Quality & Certifications

MESON holds the management-system certifications and third-party test documentation listed below. Originals or copies can be provided for supplier audits, brand registration and import compliance.

FSC® CoC Forest CertificationTraceable pulp sourcing that supports sustainable procurement and brand audits.
ISO 9001 Quality ManagementA documented quality system that reduces batch variation and supplier-audit effort.
ISO 14001 Environmental ManagementMeets the environmental criteria of overseas brands and long-term sourcing programmes.
REACH ComplianceChemical compliance documentation for the European market, easing import and brand registration.
RoHS ComplianceRestricted-substance confirmation for electronics and precision industrial wiping.
DIN CERTCO CompostabilityThird-party certification basis for compostable material projects.
Flushable Test ReportAssesses drain-line compatibility for flushable wipes and dispersible towels.
EN 13795 Hydrostatic HeadBarrier and protection performance data for medical protective materials.

Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) covering grammage, thickness, MD/CD tensile strength, absorbency, hydrostatic head and moisture content. Production records are traceable from raw-material intake through in-process inspection to finished-goods release, and retention samples can be held for project reference.

Why MESON

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between cross-laid and straight-laid?

Straight-laid fibres run in the machine direction, giving high MD strength at a better cost. Cross-laid fibres cross each other, balancing MD and CD strength with better wide-web stability. Choose cross-laid when balanced strength or large-format material is needed.

Is it suitable for hand towels?

Yes. The wide-web capability and balanced MD/CD strength suit volume slitting and production of hand-towel products. We recommend a sample test to verify wet strength and absorbency.

What does the (G) in the model name mean?

MS-CWP55 (G) is the designation used within this product system for this particular specification, distinguishing it from other configurations in the family. Specific parameters are as listed in the specification table on this page - contact us if you need further clarification.

What is the maximum width?

Standard width is 150-3,200 mm. The wide-web stability that cross-laid construction provides is exactly what large-format and wide-slitting applications need.

What are the minimum order quantity and lead time?

MOQ and lead time depend on model, grammage and width. Standard specifications carry a lower MOQ and shorter lead time; custom colours or finishes are scheduled against the order. Samples are not subject to MOQ, or call +86 512 5258 8862.

How is the product packaged?

Mainly in rolls with a 76 mm (3 in) paper core and a diameter of no more than 1,200 mm. Inner protection is PE film with board, outer packaging a woven bag or shrink film, with palletising, stretch-wrapping and labelling on request.

Can you send samples, and how long do they take to arrive?

Yes. Samples are supplied free of charge for evaluating grammage, hand, texture and runnability, normally dispatched within a few working days. International transit time depends on destination, and freight can be collect or agreed separately.

Which certifications and test reports can you provide?

MESON holds FSC CoC forest certification, ISO 9001 quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management, together with REACH, RoHS and DIN CERTCO compostability certification, flushability test reports and EN 13795 hydrostatic head data. A COA accompanies every batch.

How should the product be stored, and what is the shelf life?

Keep it in its original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct light, and avoid heavy compression, moisture and sharp objects. Unopened and stored as described, we recommend using it within 12 months.
